Close-Out Designer / Trainee Close-Out Designer


Job Description

We are recruiting a Close-Out Designer for our client in Aberdeen.

This is a full time, staff role. Our client is happy to consider Trainee Close-Out Designers for this position.

Key role to ensure design & draughting activities are executed in alignment to company integrated brownfield offering. You will be accountable for preparation of draughting activities under the supervision of the close out coordinator. This role is critical to our success as we evolve into one of the leading EPC contractors in the market.

Day to day focus

  • The Asbuilding of Safety critical documentation based on designs supplied by designers / Engineers.
  • Review workpacks to assess what Is needed for technical closeout.
  • Assist with improvements to department working practices, systems, and team efficiency.
  • Maintain required technical quality of work.
  • Ensure compliance to applicable/up to date standards, regulations, codes and procedures.
  • Estimate preparation, input and electronic submission via Global E&C digital eco-system (Slingshot).
  • Review & self-check of work output and delivery (including remote working, e-checking/approval etc.).
  • Maintain discipline / design document filing (including electronic) & update of design database(s).
  • Support design personnel (including trainee mentoring & technical assistance).
  • Maintain regular contact and dialog with Lead/Principal/Senior Designers, highlighting issues, concerns or areas for improvement.
  • Assist Senior Designers (and others) when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties.
Desired Qualities / Qualifications
  • 2 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry with NC (or equiv.) in appropriate Eng. subject.
  • Aware & able Designer with broad knowledge and expertise of draughting techniques.
  • Aware & able in selection/use of, codes, practices, standards & statutory documentation (inc. multi-discipline)
  • Aware & able in quality control/safety/environmental methods and engineering procedures for design.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise with client/projects/disciplines etc. as required.
  • Basic sound knowledge and capable of creating base drawings and design deliverables with minimal guidance.
