Principal Process Engineer


Job Description

We are recruiting Principal Process Engineers for our client in Aberdeen.

These are full time, staff roles.

You will be responsible for executing discipline engineering activities in alignment with company integrated brownfield offering within budget and schedule whilst ensuring technical integrity is maintained. Supported by a Lead or Head of Process and Technical Safety, the Principal Process Engineer may be required to act as discipline focal point on discrete scopes of work. Reporting directly to the Head of Process and Technical Safety or Lead Engineer, this role is critical to our success as we evolve into one of the leading EPC contractors in the market.

Day to day focus of team

  • Act as discipline focal point on assigned scopes of work and deliver complex scopes of work with minimal support
  • Deputise for Lead Engineer where applicable
  • Provide design input into tenders and proposals as required
  • Ensure that assigned work is compliant to agreed budget and schedule
  • Production of discipline deliverables and input to multidiscipline deliverables
  • Maintain project plan and provide progress updates for assigned scopes
  • Maintain project scope/schedule change(s) in accordance with project change control process (as required in conjunction with Lead Engineer)
  • Ensure compliance to applicable/up to date standards, regulations, codes and procedures
  • Estimate/schedule preparation & approval and electronic submission via digital eco-system
  • Maintain regular contact with Lead Engineer and/or dialog with Head of Process and Technical Safety highlighting issues, concerns, or areas for improvement
  • Participate as design engineer (or as independent engineer where applicable) in various engineering review meetings such as HAZIDs, HAZOPs, SIL Assessment etc
  • Provide technical expertise to the resolution of technical queries ensuring that all design changes are captured by the change control process
  • Provide a level of technical support that satisfies applicable asset safety case and performance standards ensuring they are not compromised by any discipline engineering activities
Desired Qualities / Qualifications
  • Degree in Chemical and Process Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Detailed Design experience
  • Prior experience on brownfield services contracts
  • FEED experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Client facing skills
  • Experienced Engineer with sound technical background and expertise
  • Experienced in the use of, applicable codes, practices, standards, and statutory documentation
  • Competent in quality control and engineering procedures
  • Competent in commercial, contractual, and administrative aspects of Engineering
  • Competent in aspects of discipline design (including multi-discipline) and use of process simulation packages
  • Excellent attention to detail, diligence, and self-discipline
  • Delivery focused and committed to achievement of project/company goals
